Abstract | Additive manufacturing technology (AMT) is popularly known as 3-dimensional (3D) printing has emerged as a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective method for the production of complex 3D-physical models. Effectively coordinated advanced 3D printing technological developments as well as the advanced integrated techniques with pre-existed 2-dimensional (2D) printing techniques have expedited the expansion of this technology to various applications in wide-field disciplines. In this paper, we aim to provide principles of machines and transformers; a comprehensive overview of additive printing technology, process, and the AMT facilitated compatible materials for empowered complex electromechanical energy conversion devices and transformers. Electromechanical energy conversion devices and transformers supply most of the electricity to all applications. Hence, we have provided an informative report broadcasting of additively manufactured electromechanical devices and transformers with significant utilization in electrical power industries. Additionally, AMT advances in electromechanical energy conversion devices such as electrical machines (motors, generators, and transformers) were described. Also, the traditional methods induced complexities overcoming AMT technique and their advantages were elucidated. Thus the additive manufacturing technology is acceptable for fabricating complex electromechanical devices and transformers additionally acquiring the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the same. Moreover, the current body of research in 3D printed manufacturing is summarized, and the challenges are highlighted to assist in the further development of this field. |
